May brings renewal and re-focus!
The May concert at BODY was almost sold out with many familiar faces and many new ones. The band and I introduced 12 new arranged tunes as well as all favorites, while the same time introducing our piano player, Ms.Laura Hays.Laura enhances all the bluesy, jazzy components of my writing, and I welcome the opportunities to put down my guitar and simply sing. Two hour long concert sets, and a rapt audience ,made for a magical evening for this songwriter!
SONGWRITING NOMINATIONS!
This May 17th at The New Mexico Music Awards in Albuquerque, two songs from "Treasures and Trash" are listed in the finalists!
"Unspoken" in the Americana genre, and "Count Me In" in the Country genre. I am honored to be recognized in my home state with many other talented musicians! And with this feedback am more determined than ever to send out the music! Sonic Bids and TAXI are wonderful resources for "getting it out there"!

MARCH 2007
Welcome to the "new"site! To go along with a my new album and enter deeper into cyberspace, this is the fresh makeover to the website! We've made it easier for you to navigate and choose products, listen in,see my new directions,as well as get in touch with me.
AUGUST 2007
The formal release of "Treasures and Trash" was August 7th at the Santa Fe Brewing Co. Opening the show were four of the finest
youth singer-songwriters in Santa Fe.
Just so happens we all work together in my home studio on vocal technique, arrangements and performing chops.
Amanda Baglione, Veranique Mazire,Bobbi Joe Marquez, and Eryn Bent hit the stage with the studio band who recorded the Cd. Add Aysia Felson, Emma Sletteland, and Lauren Wilson on additional vocals too.

I am deeply grateful to all the musicians who made the night a musical fantasy for me.

Mark Clark on drums and duet vocals, Jeff Nelson on bass, Kevin Zoernig on keys, Daniel Ward on electric guitar, Caitlin Thomas (also in my personal band) on violin-viola, Chase Morrison on cello, Dave Devlin picking mandolin and dobro, and the exquisite main harmony vocalists: my band mate Adrienne Bellis, Cristen Grey, and Eryn Bent.

I opened with "Count Me In" and closed the evening with "One True Love'.In between were eighteen songs mixed from the"Tame Me" cd,and "Treasures and Trash".The night was like a belated unleashing of "Tame Me', and a concert scene for "Treasures and Trash".The biggest treat for me was putting my acoustic guitar in it's stand and simply being a singer.Just closing my eyes and being completely in the "now" of such fine music and players.

Did I mention we all dressed up too?

Photos will be posted very soon of the evening right here ,as well as a video of the finest moments.

Back at home here in Santa Fe, I finished producing the "Youngstar" EP of their original songs. Also completed at Stepbridge Studio with Micheal Chavez, and the studio band,
the next step is to continue fundraising to record other songs from the 8 "Youngstar" songwriters.

I have a link coming to this site for complete information about the "Youngstars", listening to their music ,song lyrics, and travels.
Also Cd number 6th is in the works. Reuniting with Dan Marfisi at Jones House in L.A., we have three songs with rhythm tracks ready. Again all new material with a rock-pop jazz feel.I am excited to create a slightly different sound, and work with Dan Marfisi again.

I'm still the song leader at The Santa Fe Center for Spiritual Living, every sunday morning. But what a rockin' scene it has become! Kelvin McNeal is our music director (and an excellent
concert pianist), Pamela Von Kirk on vocals and bass, Skye Gibbons playing flute and vocals, Cristen Grey on vocals and myself singing and playing. We all write new age music, and support each others debuts of it.hmmm.... maybe that will be the next cd to record?

Publishing all this music is truly the focus now. I am seeking a home for all of it, and considering starting my own publishing house. We shall keep you posted!

My thanks to Chris for the new web design, Shane Mieske for all the art and design, and Maya Rose for signing on as my publicist!
And to all of you out there for checking the site and buying music. Please feel free to write and share comments.

Thank you all for the support over the years, and welcome to my new website!

September 2007-
So all this cyber space process continues with a MySpace
music page. Once you are there, type in Lisa Carman and we will be posting and continuing more sweet info.

The fall is here with everyone hunkering down to work, including my students, my bandmates, and myself with publishing and producing all this music.

In my home studio ,the goal is to record on a digital 8 channel board, ALL the songwriting form the YOUNGSTARS !
Then they submit and copywrite. A great vechicle to learn the business, and understand how their musical expression can matter.

As i type this, i am in the process myself of continuing recording and developing a pop Ep ,or full length record with Dan Marfisi of Jones House in LA. And, in converstion with Craig Neal, in Santa Fe who owns and runs Sound Choice Production.

At this point in my career, I wish to record quality demos/records, and submit all to the correct sources. EP's of Country, New Thought, Movie/TV, Pop,and Americana are all being implemented.
At times it is as if a songwriting higher power rules my life!

Again. write and comment and share here, or on myspace and continue all the good we all have to offer.

Love and peace, Lisa

December 2007-
Greetings and wellness to all!
As we approach all the winter and holiday energies, tis the time to reflect and be thankful.
So I am. Since the Cd release, I have been deeply immersed in teaching and arranging songwriters in my home studio, learning to record on my own digital 8 channel recording unit, traveling to the east to see all relatives and friends and playing a "All High School Reunion" gig in my hometown, Penfield NY. A few gigs about Santa Fe with my trio of Caitlin Thomas and Adrienne Bellis. We continue to create new arrangements and new material. Thoughts about being in cyberspace... you CAN teach yourself to do it(however hard)
and it gives results! I am now involved in Taxi and Sonic Bids and working up to vidieos on My space Music page.
Same as the website .. type in :lisajcarman, and there shall I be! Submitting as much original work as possible, and writing new material at ta steady pace, i await being picked up to be published. Spent hours formulating a "pro" press kit which will be available early January.
The future manifestation, sooner than later, is my own publishing company. To catalog and encourage all talented songwriters, to put them in a position to be heard, continually create, and have influence in the many genres of todays music. I take huge interest in young or older talent, asssiting in arranging and editing. If you're out there and have something to share.. do it!
Writing new material constantly, in various genres, has taught me how to tweak and edit for either the "top 40" mentality, or the many , many, cult and generational venues.
Regarding my teaching youth in singing and songwriting, I am lining up master class clinics for the summer of 2008..
gotta pass on as much as possible because it feels good!
See all of you in 2008 in the summer at festivals accross the West and Oregon coast. Will post master class clinics on the site.
A safe and healthy winter season to all!
Lisa

Spring 2008"
Check out the "new" additions on the site! A video of Treasures and Trash" CD release concert! What a treat to edit and work in a different media. Easily could sidestep into the art direction of musical videos.
And a updated EPK for easy download ,with a management company to handle and assist in bookings, SheSingSongs Management.

I have spent the winter recording simple demos of guitar/piano/vocals
and charting music to every song i have ever written.
And writing many new songs of "New Thought" music, alongside of blues and Americana. As the spring comes into being, I will have to choose which songs merit recording for the next album. Three tunes are already tracked with Dan Marfisi of Jones House in L.A.
All others are being submitted to industry listings and songwriting contests.
A songwriters work is always ongoing.

The energy of co-creating is in the air as well. Writing music to others lyrics, and editing other artists new works is a on-going avenue i am traveling. Maya Rose Mcknight and Laura Hays are the newest artists I am working with. And the YOUNGSTARS continue to write individually
and develop each song in their private lessons.

Three student teen songwriters are now recording their personal demos here in the studio. With plans to master and package them to sell by summer. I truly enjoy engineering these recordings and witnessing the students joy in accomplishing their music to a disc.
Early summer myself and Kelvin McNeal are offering a singer-songwriter master class June 16- 20 here in Santa Fe. Daytime class is 11-4; night time class is 6-9 pm. A performance at BODY Friday night at 7:30 is a chance for the songwriters to share their talents with the public.
Any interest/questions contact me at :lisajcarman@msn.com.

And of course, we are booking concert gigs throughout the summer/ fall.
A exciting addition is Laura Hays on piano/keys. With her smooth jazz/blues styles, I get to put my guitar down every now and then and be just a singer. Check out the "new" state of the art EPK, designed by Shane Mieske in the promo section!
Peace to all, and wellness of spirit for everyone.
